CODE OF CONDUCT AT ARMISTICE IN CAMBRIDGE EVENTS

This will apply at any Armistice in Cambridge events to safeguard exhibitors, participants and public from injury and danger. Any queries on this Code of Conduct should be directed to the Administrator Armistice in Cambridge info@cambridgeinfo.co.nz

1. PERSONAL DISCIPLINE

Armistice in Cambridge is an activity designed to commemorate and celebrate NZ‘s military history and to remember those who served, fought and in many cases dies in the service of our Country. Any conduct that has the potential to undermine these aims is to be avoided. Any incidents will be investigated and dealt with quickly to avoid compromising both this event and the many people that contribute to its on-going success. Whether as an exhibitor or participant in the activities, common sense and high standards of presentation and politeness must be maintained so that the Armistice In Cambridge event is presented to the public as a worthwhile and valued activity.

2. FIREARMS AND PYROTECHNICS

There must be absolutely no discharge of any firearm, barrelled weapon, thunderflash or other pyrotechnic device at any event without prior permission of the organisers of the event. When not in use all firearms and pyrotechnics are be secured properly. Firearms are only to be carried by re-enactors during static displays or during arena events and are not permitted within the trade tents.

3. BAYONETS AND KNIVES

Bayonets and knives must not be carried unsheathed when moving around the event. They must be secured properly when not being carried.

4. UNIFORMS/EMBLEMS

Military uniforms/emblems should be worn correctly and in context. All personnel wearing military uniforms need to be conscious of the sensitivities around the wearing of these uniforms, and their associated insignia, and should act sensibly so as not to undermine the aims of Armistice in Cambridge.

5. NOISE

No excessive noise should be made or generators used on a show site or camping site between the hours of 9:30 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.

6. MILITARY VEHICLE CONDITION

It is the duty of all members to ensure that their vehicles are maintained in a safe condition. If they are being driven on public gazetted roads, the vehicles are to be in a roadworthy and licensed condition.

7. MILITARY VEHICLE MOVEMENT GENERALLY

Vehicles should move through an event only in accordance with the wishes of the organisers.

8. TRACKED VEHICLE MOVEMENT

Tracked vehicles should not move through crowds unless absolutely necessary. In which case responsible adults should walk ahead and to the side of the vehicle to warn members of the public. All reversing vehicles are to be guided.

9. VEHICLE SPEED

Vehicles should be driven at a responsible speed at all times, having full regard to the number of people present at the event. In uncontrolled access areas within the event location, vehicles are to move at a maximum speed of 5km/h.

10. DRIVER QUALIFICATION

a) Any vehicle being driven should be controlled by the holder of a current full driving licence for that class of vehicle, who is driving with the full permission of the owner and, above all, who is familiar with that particular vehicle.

b) At no time should a child or a non-licence holder be in charge or control of a vehicle as this could invalidate any insurance policy. This includes vehicle left with ignition keys in place or with the engine or machinery in motion.

11. RESTRICTED DRIVER VISION

If any vehicle has restricted vision, a responsible adult must act as vehicle commander. They must be in voice contact with the driver. It is the commander's responsibility to ensure passenger safety, especially when persons are mounting or dismounting from the vehicle, which should be done other than by, using the tracks or wheels as footrests.

12. PROJECTIONS

Drivers must ensure that any projections outside the normal overall width, length and height of their vehicle such as whip aerials or ring-mounted machine-guns, are properly secured before moving off, especially when moving through crowds.

13. PASSENGERS

No passenger vehicle must carry more passengers than the number of seats on that vehicle. They must be correctly seated and children properly supervised. On fully armoured, tracked vehicles, no passengers or crew must be carried on the exterior of the vehicle under any circumstances. On amphibious vehicles, all crew and passengers must be equipped with flotation devices or life-jackets when water-borne.

14 .FIRE PRECAUTIONS

All members will carry a suitable, modern type fire extinguisher on their vehicles. Care is to be taken when cooking around accommodation. All stallholders at Armistice in Cambridge events will have an extinguisher available close to their stall space.

15. BREACH OF CODE OF CONDUCT

An infringement of the Code of Conduct at an event will be investigated immediately by an Armistice in Cambridge Committee Member. Depending on the severity, it may result in expulsion from the event and/or handing the matter over to the NZ Police if appropriate. It may subsequently also be reported to the Armistice in Cambridge Committee for further action if considered necessary.
